Joining a group

How do I join my group?

Tap the invite link your organizer sent you. If the app is already on your phone, open it, tap I have an invite link, and paste the link in.

It says my link is a Bunco Circle invite.

Each Game Night Circle app has its own groups. A Bunco Circle, Mahjongg Circle or Euchre Circle invite opens in that app, and a Farkle Circle invite opens here. Ask your organizer for your Farkle group’s link.

How do I start a group of my own?

Open the app and tap Start a group (or, if you’re already in a group, tap your group’s name at the top of the screen, then + Start another group). You name it and say when you play and how many players. How your group plays, from the winning score to the scoring chart, is in Organize → Group settings. Then share the invite link from Organize → Roster & invite.

Signing in

My sign-in code never came.

Farkle Circle emails you a 6-digit code, so there’s no password to remember. Give it a minute, then look in your junk or spam folder. The email is called “Your Game Night Circle sign-in code”. Still nothing? Tap Didn’t get it? Send again. Make sure the email address is spelled right: the code goes only to that address.

I already use Bunco Circle, Mahjongg Circle or Euchre Circle. Can I use the same email?

Yes. Sign in with the same email address. The first time, Farkle Circle asks your name, and your phone number if you’d like to give it. Your Farkle groups, scores and subscription are kept separately from your other apps.

Keeping score

Who keeps score?

Each table has a scorekeeper: a player at that table who has the app. Only players who have the app can keep score. The organizer sees who it is on Table setup (Scorekeeper: Dave · Change) and can tap Change. The organizer and co-organizers can keep score for any table, and if nobody at a table has the app, the organizer keeps that table’s score. Everyone else just plays: they don’t need the app at all.

How do I enter a turn?

The Scorekeeper shows whose turn it is, their total so far, and the turn, such as Turn 7 of 10. When they stop rolling, type the points they banked in Points banked and tap Bank, which then reads Bank 450. If they farkled, tap Farkle instead. Points go up in 50s. The app adds it to their total, moves on to the next player, and its line says what was saved, such as Turn 7 — Carol banked 850 · 4,000.

Does the app add up the dice?

No. The app never adds up dice. Your table rolls its own dice the way it always has, works out the points, and the scorekeeper types them in. The app keeps every total, the turn count and whose turn is next. Scores are points only: no money changes hands in the app.

Who goes first?

The app draws who goes first at each table when the tables are made, and the Scorekeeper says so: First turn: Mike · Change. Tap Change to pick someone else, until that game’s first turn is saved. Then play goes round the table in seat order.

Do my points stay with me?

Yes. Your points are yours, whichever table you play at. Each game starts everyone at 0, and your night adds up every game you played, so your total goes with you when you change tables, arrive late or go home early.

The scoring chart

Where is the scoring chart?

On the Scorekeeper, tap Scoring chart. Our scoring chart shows what each roll is worth in your group, with the dice drawn for each one: a single 1, a single 5, three of a kind, and the rest.

How do we set our own?

Your organizer goes to Organize → Scoring chart and picks one to start from: Classic, Box rules (the rules in the Farkle box) or Phone-app style. Any value can be changed after that, in 50s. Leave a roll empty and it doesn’t score for your group. If your group hasn’t picked one before its first Farkle night, A few choices first asks before Game 1.

Getting on the board and three farkles

What is getting on the board?

A player’s first score has to be at least a set amount in one turn, often 500. Until then, the Scorekeeper says Not on the board yet — needs 500 in one turn, and the app won’t take a smaller score for them. Your organizer sets the amount in Group settings → Getting on the board, or chooses None.

What happens with three farkles in a row?

Only what your group decides. In Group settings → Three farkles in a row, your organizer can set a penalty, such as minus 500. When a player farkles three turns in a row, the app takes it off their total, and the line says third in a row. The count starts again after that and at each new game, and a total can go below zero. Empty means no penalty, as in the Farkle box.

What are last turns?

When your group stays at its tables and plays to a winning score (10,000 unless your organizer changes it), the first player to bank that much starts the last turns: Donna has 10,100 — everyone else gets one last turn to beat it. Each of the others gets one more turn, and the Scorekeeper says what they need, such as Needs more than 1,450 to beat Donna. Then the highest total wins.

Moving tables or staying

What are the two ways to play?

Your organizer chooses in Group settings → Your Farkle night:

  • Move tables: everyone takes the same number of turns each game (10 unless your organizer changes it), so the tables finish together. The highest total wins the table. Then each table’s winner moves up a table, and the lowest score at Table 1 goes to the last table.
  • Stay at your table: everyone keeps their table all night, and each table plays full games to the winning score, with last turns at the end of each game.

How are the tables made?

On Table setup, the organizer picks How many tables? and the app spreads everyone evenly, 2 to 8 a table. Everyone plays. Tap two names to swap them, then Start Game 1 →.

How do I know where to sit?

When your group moves tables, Where do I go? opens for everyone after each game, once every table has finished. It shows your name, Move up to, Stay at or Move to, your table and seat, and a little map of the tables. Where’s my table? on the live scoreboard shows it any time. Seeing where you sit is always free.

Can we end a game early?

Yes. Tap Game over → before the game is over. The app asks first, such as End Game 3 after Turn 7?: everyone still to play that turn takes it first, so everyone has had the same number of turns. Then the highest total wins the table (if two are tied for the lead, they take one more turn each first). Turns can’t be added afterwards.

When does the night end?

If your organizer set Games per night, the night ends after the last game. Otherwise the organizer taps End the night now on the Scorekeeper; the game being played then isn’t counted. Either way, everyone goes to Tonight’s winners.

Late arrivals and going home

Someone came late.

Before the tables are made, just tick them Here on Farkle night sign-in. Once play has started, tap + Someone just arrived on the Scorekeeper, and pick their name or tap + Someone new to type it. They join the smallest table from its next game, or straight away if that table’s game hasn’t had a turn yet, and the app says where: Rick joins Table 3 from Game 4. Someone who comes back after going home joins the same way.

Someone has to go home.

On the Scorekeeper, tap their name, then the button that names them, such as Jim has gone home. They keep their points from tonight, and their turns are skipped from then on. If that leaves one player at a table, their game is over and they join the smallest other table from the next game. If it would leave only one player tonight, that’s the end of the night: tap End the night now instead.

Fixing a turn

We typed the wrong number.

Tap Undo. It takes back the last turn completely: its points, any farkle, any penalty, and whose turn it is. Undo works until Game over is tapped. The table’s scorekeeper and the organizer can use it.

The mistake was a few turns back.

Tap the player’s name above the turn (Tap a name to fix one of their turns.). Their turns are listed; change the points and tap Save, or tap Make it a Farkle. Totals, farkles in a row and the penalty are worked out again. A fix that would change whose turn is next isn’t allowed: use Undo back to it instead.

We already tapped Game over.

Tap Fix Game 2 (with the game’s number) on the Scorekeeper, then the player and the turn. The highest total still wins the table; if a fix leaves two tied at the top, tap the winner. Nobody’s seat moves. After the night is over, the organizer can still fix a turn until tonight’s winners are saved.

Ties

What if two players tie for the win?

The Scorekeeper says It’s a tie: the tied players take one more turn each, in seat order, and the highest total then wins. If your group settles ties another way, tap Tap the winner instead and tap who won.

Two players tie for a prize.

On Tonight’s winners, the organizer sees It’s a tie — tap the winner, with each player’s points, games won and biggest turn to help decide.

Take a look first

Can I try the app before my group starts?

Yes. Before you’re in a group, tap Take a look first. You get a sample group of your own with eleven pretend players, three Farkle nights already played, and a practice night today. Open Farkle night sign-in, tap Here for each player who came, then Make the tables and Start Game 1. The other players are pretend, so you keep score for every table. Everything is unlocked in the sample, and nothing is sent to anyone.

How do I get rid of the sample?

Tap Delete sample on its banner, or Delete the sample group on Me. The pretend players and their Farkle nights go with it. Nothing else changes.

Bigger words

How do I make the words bigger?

Go to Me (or Settings, if you aren’t in a group yet) and choose a Text size: Normal, Large or Extra Large. Large is where the app starts.

Subscriptions

What’s free?

Saying “I’m in”, RSVPs, keeping score, finding your table, tonight’s winners and your brag card are always free, for everyone in your group.

What does the subscription cost, and what does it unlock?

$2.99 a month or $24.99 a year in the US, per person: each player who wants it subscribes for themselves. It is paid through Apple on iPhone, or Google Play on Android, and in Canada the store shows your price in Canadian dollars. One subscription covers every Farkle Circle group you play in. It unlocks the live scoreboard, season standings, the winners log and your stats.

Does my Bunco Circle, Mahjongg Circle or Euchre Circle subscription cover this app?

No. Each app has its own subscription. A subscription to another Game Night Circle app doesn’t unlock Farkle Circle, and a Farkle Circle subscription doesn’t unlock the others.

How do I change or cancel my subscription?

In the app, go to Me and tap the Subscription row. Or on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. On Android, open the Play Store app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.

I subscribed, but things are still locked.

Tap any Subscribe button, then Restore purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Farkle Circle account you subscribed with. In a web browser, subscribe in the Farkle Circle app on your phone; it unlocks in the browser too.

Deleting your account

How do I delete my account?

Go to Me (or Settings, if you aren’t in a group yet) and tap Delete my account. The app tells you what goes and what stays before anything is deleted. If you run a group, pass it on first: Organize → Roster & invite, tap … next to a player who has joined and isn’t a sub, and choose Pass the circle to them. Or delete the group in Organize → Group settings → Delete this circle. Deleting your account doesn’t cancel an Apple or Google Play subscription, so cancel that first.

No longer have the app? Sign in at gamenightcircle.com/farkle in any web browser and do the same from Me, or email support@gamenightcircle.com from the address you sign in with and we will delete it for you.

If you also use Bunco Circle, Mahjongg Circle or Euchre Circle, those accounts stay, and so does your sign-in for them. Deleting one of those accounts leaves Farkle Circle alone, too. More in the privacy policy.
