Score Hand 3

Round 3 · Table 1

Who took the bid?MarleneThe bid28

Marlene & Herb bid 2839
  • Meld22
  • Counters17

Made it — 39 is 28 or more.

Irene & Arnie16
  • Meld8
  • Counters · the rest of 258

Marlene & Herb 52 → 91 · Irene & Arnie −7 → 9

The scorekeeper taps who took the bid and types four numbers. The app works out made or set and adds it up.

Keeping score

Tap who bid. Type four numbers. It works out the hand.

Your table plays and counts the way it always has. At the end of each hand, the scorekeeper enters the bid, each team’s meld and the bidding team’s counters, and the app works out made or set and keeps the running totals, below zero and all.

Score Hand 3 →

Who took the bid

Tap the player who took the bid and type the bid. A “Minimum 15” chip fills in your group’s usual minimum. The app never checks a bid.

Meld · Counters

Meld and counters

Type each team’s meld and the bidding team’s counters. The other team’s counters fill in as the rest of the hand’s 25.

Made it — 39 is 28 or more.

Made or set, worked out

The app adds it up and takes the bid off when a team goes set. It asks “Did they take a trick?” only when a team took no counters, and one tick, “They threw it in”, covers a team that gave up before playing.

SET!

The SET! flash

When the team that took the bid goes set or throws it in, SET! flashes for a second with that team’s names and the minus, like “Irene & Arnie · −24”. Nothing else flashes.

Just type the scores

Or just the scores

Already added it up on paper? Type each team’s score for the hand instead.

Undo

Undo and fix

Undo takes back the last hand. Tap any saved hand to fix it, and the totals are worked out again.

The app never deals, counts meld or cards, checks a bid or referees, and it’s points only: no money changes hands in the app.

Your game

Single or double deck, small or big numbers

Your organizer picks the deck and the numbers, and that combination’s usual values fill in. Change them to match your house rules.

Single deck

48 cards, 12 each

The classic pinochle deck: two each of the ace, ten, king, queen, jack and nine in four suits.

Double deck

80 cards, no 9s, 20 each

Four of each, scored the same way, with the triple and quadruple melds on the chart.

Small numbers

A run is 15 · counters count 1

25 counters a hand with a single deck (50 with a double), a minimum bid of 15 (50) and games to 150 (500).

Big numbers

A run is 150 · counters count 10

Everything ten times as big: 250 counters a hand (500 with a double deck), a minimum bid of 150 (500) and games to 1,500 (5,000).

Your house rules

Pick what a set costs, what saves a team’s meld, and who wins when both teams pass the winning score on the same hand. Anything else goes in a note everyone can read.

Our scoring sheet

Every player can open it: your group’s values and the usual meld chart for your deck and numbers. Your table still counts its own meld.

Your pinochle night

Stay at your table, or move tables

Your organizer picks how your group plays. Pick how many tables on the night, and the app draws the teams of two, partners across. When the numbers don’t come out in fours, a table of 3 or 5 plays everyone for themselves. Everyone plays.

Stay at your table

Everyone keeps their table and partner all night. Each table plays games to the winning score, one after another, and never waits for the others.

Move tables

Each table plays a round of 4 hands. When every table has finished, the app draws new tables and new partners for everyone, and everyone’s own points add up. “Where do I go?” shows each player their next table, seat and partner.

What it does

Everything the score pad did, and more

Plan the pinochle nights

Put in the schedule once. Everyone taps I’m in or Can’t make it, and the waitlist fills any open seat in order.

Who’s hosting, all season

See who’s hosting each pinochle night, and where, with the address one tap from Maps.

Subs and reminders

Short a player? Text your subs a link, and the first to say yes gets the seat. Reminders on your phone before each pinochle night (turn them on in Me).

“Where do I go?”

Each player sees their table, their seat and their partner. Late arrivals and early goodbyes are handled too.

Scoreboard and standings

Follow every table live. Then see tonight’s winners and every player’s scores, the season standings, the winners log and your brag card.

Big, easy text

Large type and big buttons, made to read across a card table, with an extra-large setting too.

Take a look first

Not sure yet? In the app, tap Take a look first. You get your own private sample group with pretend players, a pinochle night already played and a practice night, so you can try everything, scoreboard and standings too, before you invite anyone.

Price

Free to play and keep score. Stats if you want them.

Saying “I’m in”, RSVPs, keeping score, finding your table, tonight’s winners with every player’s scores, and the brag card are free for everyone. US prices are shown here; in Canada, the store shows your price. Prices are per person: each player who wants the live scoreboard, season standings, the winners log and their stats subscribes for themselves. Pinochle Circle has its own subscription: it doesn’t include our other apps, and theirs don’t include Pinochle Circle. Subscriptions are handled by Apple on iPhone and Google Play on Android, and can be cancelled anytime.
